Volendam immediately suspends Wouter for investigating abuse

Volendam player Tayrell Wouter is immediately suspended by his club. The reason for this is that he is under investigation for assaulting a woman in an Amsterdam club. FC Volendam reports this on Tuesday after a conversation with the twenty-year-old player.

“Wouter has indicated to FC Volendam that he was not guilty of any criminal act,” reads a statement from the club. Pending the ongoing police investigation, Volendam says it has suspended the player with immediate effect.

Wouter turned himself in to the police on Monday. On the night of July 16 to 17, the abused woman turned down a man who tried to seduce her. The man then violently grabbed her left breast, police said.

When the victim tried to defend herself, she was grabbed by the throat by two men and received hard blows to her head. Police also suspect one of the men of assault.
