Little by little Deportivo Cali begins to structure what will be next year, in order to get out of the difficult economic situation and the complex sports need, due to the poor results of the first and second semesters of 2022, where they were eliminated in the first round of all six competitions participated.
Regarding this moment, Vice President Eduardo Calderón said for the ‘Deportes Sin Tapujos’ program, that “for us as directors and executive committee, the balance of 2022 is very worrying. From the sports point of view it is very worrying, because they did not qualify for either of the two league tournaments, they did not get a place in the international tournament and all that is tied to many things, especially the financial issue. The income to the club for certain aspects in the marketing part has been reduced, plus the sanction of five dates affects the box office, it hits us very hard.
He commented on what are the expectations they have for next year: “to be able to do a good planning hand in hand with Professor Pinto, to be able to make responsible decisions with time, framed within a budget, which allows us what possibilities we have that players are required and what names can come to the institution, to have a very competitive team”.
They trust in the work of Jorge Luis Pinto: “we all have dreams, Professor Pinto has an excellent resume, background, experience to pass on to both youth players and those with experience, and God wants us to find the sports route to be able to achieve results”
Next week they will meet with the coach to determine the players they will follow: “we are going to meet after the tournament is over, before he travels to the World Cup, to look at the guidelines, start looking for positions that are a priority to define the team and also look at the issue of renewals. The president is the one who has spoken with him the most and I understand that he has asked for a goalkeeper and a striker, but he has not officially or formally transmitted it to us”.
I’m talking about the continuity of Agustín Vuletich, Teófilo Gutiérrez and Ángelo Rodríguez: “In sports we haven’t made any decisions yet. Teo has a contract until December 2023, so far he has not told us anything, I understand that Professor Pinto is happy with his performance, work and commitment.
