US Open finalists eliminated in first round

It was not what was expected, but tennis has these things that make it such an unpredictable sport. Carlos Alcaraz (No. 1 in the world) and Casper Ruud (3rd), champion and runner-up of the US Open less than a month ago, were eliminated in the debut of their respective tournaments.

The Spaniard had a very erratic day and had a hard time converting his usual extravagant shots from any angle of the pitch. Always down on the scoreboard was surprised by lucky loser David Goffin (66º), former number seven in the world, who marked the exit door for him at the ATP 500 in Astana, Kazakhstan, with runs of 7-5 and 6-3.

For its part, nordic tennis player, with a huge present, started as the top favorite to win the trophy at the ATP 500 in Tokyo. Far from fulfilling that prediction, could not overcome the first round against the Spanish Jaume Munar who, based on a game of great wear and consistency from the baseline, managed to break the solvency of the Norwegian. After an hour and 35 minutes, he beat him 6-3 6-3.

It is worth mentioning that Alcaraz won his first Grand Slam title after defeating Ruud 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1) and 6-3 in the New York finalin a very special match that placed the Murcian at the top of the world ranking.

Both qualified for Nitto ATP Finals of Turin in the month of November, they will have to leave behind this meager day that caused astonishment and made it a rare situation.
