U de Chile comfortably beats Independiente del Valle

Las Leonas defeated Independiente del Valle in a match in which they were clearly superior, this Friday in Quito and at the Dragonas stadium.

The premiere of the Chilean cast in the Women’s Copa Libertadores 2022 is this Friday. Universidad de Chile was in charge of opening the fires on Friday, when they faced Independiente del Valle from 5:00 p.m. at the Banco Guayaquil stadium. It was a 3-1 win for the Lionesses.

Yessenia Huenteo opened the scoring at an early 16 minutes. A recovery play led by Llanka Groff turned into a pass between the lines; Thus, she left Yesse alone in front of the goal and easily beat Irene Tobar to make it 1-0 in favor of the Lionesses.

However, the tie came on the next move. Claudia Roldán executed a free kick that went directly into the corner and meant a partial 1-1 for Independiente del Valle at 18′. Dragons weren’t superior to U, but they held up well to blue pressure.

After 25 minutes, those led by Carlos Véliz began to get much closer to the goal of Independiente del Valle. A free kick by Paloma López that went wide and a header by Pinilla that crashed into the horizontal, in addition to a shot by Groff that went into the hands of the rival goalkeeper, could not return the advantage to Universidad de Chile. So they went to break.

In the second half, both teams took the field with changes but the U had a more offensive vocation than the dragons. Sonya Keefe had the second goal starting the second half, but the ball was deflected by IDV’s defense, who did not want to lose this Friday in their stadium.

But after trying so hard, the goal went to U. The ball was served perfectly to Rebecrack, after a free kick that bounced in the area, who was alone in the left sector. Fernández with the inner edge of his left foot kicked the goal and beat Tobar to make it 2-1 in the 58th minute of the match.

As the game began to stall, an incredible play by Fernanda Pinilla made it three to one. The blue captain changed directions to assist Daniela Zamora, who was waiting at the edge of the area. Thus, the forward hit a mini race and converted the three to one at 70 ‘.

The bad news is that, despite the good second half she was doing, Rebeca Fernández had to leave the court. The Paraguayan striker suffered a severe injury, so she barely managed to be 35 ‘on the court. Then, María Martínez Vecca managed to get a ball off the line that she bounced after Vanina Correa’s clearance.

Finally, it was a victory for the Leonas by three to one over the Dragonas IDV. His next challenge will be on Monday, October 17, at 5:00 p.m., against Libertad-Limpeño. The Paraguayans will play this Friday in the second shift of the day against Palmeiras from Brazil.
