Top 14: winner in Montpellier, Toulouse strikes a blow

A boss victory. At the end of the 5th day, the Toulouse stadium went to win in Montpellier which conceded on October 2, its first defeat on its ground. The reigning French champions therefore fell. And it all happened at the very end of the match. Regulation time was indeed exceeded by a few seconds when the referee, Mr. Raynal, sanctioned Toulouse with a red card for a high tackle by Meafou on Mercer. This penalty allowed a last match point to the Héraultais. But they preferred to play a penalty rather than attempt the goal, 57 meters in front of the posts. Bad choice because they were penalized in touch for obstruction. This is how Toulouse won GGL Stadium.

Before that, the Toulousans did not wait long to start this match: from the 3rd minute, Melvyn Jaminet launched hostilities with a kick to follow and to serve his center Dimitri Delibes who accelerated to spin alone in the test. The defending champions replied with their back Anthony Bouthier (8th). The MHR players were again rewarded with a strong try from the pillar Enzo Forletta (27th).

Two drops from Melvyn Jaminet (13th, 33rd) nevertheless allowed Toulouse to stay in contact (14-13). The Toulousains even took control twice, in the 50th (14-16) then in the 59th (17-19) thanks to a precise boot from the international back. For his part, the Montpellier opener Louis Carbonel missed two important actions (63rd, 65th). Then Vincent Rattez (74th) and Zach Mercer (75th) committed two forwards. Too many inaccuracies on the part of the MHR to prevent Toulouse from triumphing.
