Théo Maledon signed by the Hornets at the dawn of the new season

With the NBA regular season fast approaching, Theo Maledon has been without a team since the Rockets decided to let him go a few days ago. But in the end, he still found a taker for the recovery since the Hornets decided to bet on the blue-white-red leader.

It was Shams Charania who announced the good news this Friday evening. The Charlotte Hornets have therefore decided to give Tony Parker’s former protege an opportunity by signing him to their roster less than five days before the big start of hostilities scheduled for Tuesday evening. So of course, we are not on a standard NBA contract but of course on a two-way contract, which theoretically means Theo could go back and forth with the G League. However, it’s better than nothing for Maledon who, we remember, was recently transferred from the Thunder to the Rockets, before the latter decided to cut him.

The good news in all this is that Theo Maledon arrives in a franchise that is a little naked on the position of leader. Already at the base, it was almost the desert behind LaMelo Ball (Dennis Smith Jr. in back-up, woohoo!) but in addition the young phenomenon of the Hornets will start the season in the infirmary because of a sore in ankle. Even if we can expect to see Terry Rozier switch to the lead, this is an opportunity for Theo to scratch a few minutes in the rotation of new coach Steve Clifford.

New opportunity for Théo Maledon to try to find a place in the NBA. We say to ourselves that there is a shot to play at least until the next return of LaMelo, the young Frenchie to show that the franchise of Michael Jordan was right to give him a chance.
