The Transler close to victory in Zamora

The Transler has grazed in Zamora what would have been one of the most heroic victories of the five consecutive seasons that the Soria Basketball Club has accumulated in the Men’s First Division.

With only six senior players, and another two from the junior category, the team led by Jesus Soto lost 75-70 against Seguros Bilbao-Taller Central Diésel, one of the candidates to fight for promotion to the EBA League.

Marc Isernat 16 years old, made his debut in the First Division in the campaign in which he opens the junior category.

He jumped onto the field, instead of Sergio Redondo, six minutes from the end of the third quarter and with 51-44 on the scoreboard. He shot a basket once and stayed on the field until he finished the third period.

He would still return to the field when Eneko Cuento committed the fifth personal foul.

Isern belongs to the CSB Junior Campofrío Bwith whom he has played two games this season, averaging 28 minutes and 8 points.

The previous academy player who debuted in the First Division -in December of last year- was the still junior Hugo Soto, one of the seven players from the Transler first team who faced Seguros Bilbao-Taller Central Diésel. The starting quintet was made up of Miguel Erdozain, Martín de la Rosa, Gonzalo de Domingo, Eneko Cuento and Sergio Redondo. And, in addition to the two juniors, Sergio García also played. All the starters, except Cueto, added more than 30 minutes of play and 26 accumulated by Hugo Soto.

Seguros Bilbao-Taller Central Diésel, one of the teams with the greatest physical power in the First Division, won 23-15 at the end of the first quarter and 40-33 when the break came. A 1-5 run at the beginning of the second half endorsed that Club Soria Baloncesto was not going to lose face in the game in the last twenty minutes.

Nor was the duel sentenced at the beginning of the last act, despite the local victory after half an hour of play by 65-52. The Zamoranos only scored ten points -six of them from the free throw line- in the last quarter, in which De Domingo signed eight points, for Erdozain’s seven.

Despite the fatigue accumulated by the players of the Translerthe last quarter was not without emotion.

From 74-62 it would go to 74-70 in just under two minutes. Club Soria Baloncesto could not complete the comeback, but left behind the irregularity of previous days and the accumulation of errors it had made in previous games.

The Transler has not achieved any victory in the five days that have already passed of the 2022-2023 season and will receive next Sunday, at 6:00 p.m. at the San Andrés Sports Center, the Palencia UEMC-San Remo Basketball Club, a team that lost their first four games of the season.
