The stapled ones ran out of words. Douděra rejected alibi talks, Trpišovský revealed what the problem was and commented on Ewerton’s form

Baník Ostrava continues its poor performances – on the pitch of Slovan Liberec, they played against ten players from the 38th minute after Gebre Selassie was sent off, but the Silesians did not use the power play as they only drew 0:0. How did Baník coach Pavel Vrba evaluate this duel?

Eleven games, eleven points, a score of 14:15 – this is the balance of Baník Ostrava in the ongoing league year. After eleven rounds, Pavel Vrba’s men have only two wins, four losses and five draws.

And it was the Slezans who scored another goal in the match against Liberec, when they played on their ground from the 38th minute against a weakened opponent.

It was then that Theodor Gebre Selassie prematurely ended his career in this match, when he first saw a yellow card after a foul on Srdjan Plavšič, but then referee Tomáš Batík analyzed his intervention on video, after which it became clear that the 35-year-old defender would receive a red card.

Moments after that, Ladislav Almási got a bigger scoring opportunity, but his header only hit the middle of the Liberec goal.

The Slovakian striker got another chance to score only in the second half, specifically in the 68th minute, when his shot narrowly missed the right post of the opponent’s shrine.

The guests did not create any other big opportunities, on the contrary, the home team were more dangerous in the end. They produced more shooting attempts in the second half as well.

Coach Vrba’s statement

“If we play against ten people from the 38th minute and get a point from that, it’s not enough. Of course, we played away, but we didn’t give a performance that we deserved to win. Apart from one chance that Almási had there, we didn’t create any opportunities.” said Vrba at the press conference.

Vrba o Almásim

“Of course he is a key player. You yourself know that last season he scored 18 goals, or less than 20 (Almási scored 13 goals in the previous year – editor’s note). His goals decided the result and that Baník won and had many more points than we have now. So it’s a shame he’s not in the form he was last season. Unfortunately, he doesn’t change the situations he gets into, which of course we lack, and that’s why we have as many points as we do.”

Plavšič as Baník’s best player

“I think that Plavša was one of those players today who gave an above-standard performance, he was very active and played a lot of balls. I think he was the very best in the transition phase, when he was able to speed up the game and get to that pre-final phase, so I see him offensively as Baník’s best player.” coach Vrba concluded.
