Lisandro Loncón, president of the Río Gallegos Tennis Club, visited Nuevo Día and spoke about the significant anniversary of the institution that will have its official act this Friday at 7:00 p.m. and activities on Saturday with a meeting from 2:30 p.m., dinner at night and recognition in the Sunday hoisting in Kirchner and San Martín.

In the first place, when asked about the importance of the date, Loncón highlighted: “I am proud to be president of the club on its centenary after 40 years as a member” and then added: “I always tell the members that they are privileged because when they founded it, tennis practice was done in the Swift refrigerator, which was private property and here on Gobernador Lista street, which was La Amberense, which was a kind of corralón and they also played tennis but it was all private and at that time the club was founded.”

Regarding the challenges that lie ahead, the leader commented: “Today we point to the future of the institution in a two-hectare property that we have in front of the racetrack and where we are going to build courts and places of recreation for the members.”

Asked about the pandemic period, Loncón indicated: “The pandemic marked us economically and in sports, because the boys could not attend, there were no meetings of any kind and economically we had practically no income and we survived thanks to the support of some partners, the board of directors and the government.”

The club will celebrate its 100 years from this Friday at 7:00 p.m. with a main event that will take place at the Avellaneda and San Martín facilities and will continue on Saturday with a meeting that will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the facilities themselves. (New Day Newspaper)
