The reaction of the Indonesian League Club after the competition was stopped

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Big clubs Liga 1 2022/2023 supports the competition being suspended indefinitely as a result of the tragedy of Kanjuruhan.

The continuity of the implementation of Indonesian football competitions under PSSI including Liga 1 is currently in the hands of President Joko Widodo.

This is related to the results of the Joint Independent Fact Finding Team (TGIPF) meeting of the Kanjuruhan Tragedy which was announced by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD on Tuesday (4/10) night.

This decision has the support of a number of Liga 1 clubs. Persija Jakarta president Mohamad Prapanca said his party supports the fact finding team can work optimally.

“We are a state of law. We follow the rules. The fact-finding investigation team is working,” Prapanca told CNNIndonesia.com, Wednesday (5/10).

In addition to Persija, Persita manager Nyoman Suryanthara also understands the current sad situation forcing football to be unable to run.

“We are still grieving, mas. Regarding the status of the competition, we are waiting for the results from TGIPF and the federation,” said Nyoman.

Meanwhile, President of Madura United, Achsanul Qosasi also supports that the competition be stopped until there is an official statement from the International Football Federation (FIFA).

“Stop the competition, until there is an official FIFA statement,” said Achsanul Qosasi, quoted from his Twitter.

In addition, clubs competing in League 2, one of which is FC Bekasi City, also fully supports the steps determined by the relevant parties.

“We are sorry for the tragedy in Kanjuruhan and as a sign of empathy we support the postponement of this league and hope that it can be investigated thoroughly for the sake of improving Indonesian football. Now what we can do is fully support the steps determined by PSSI, LIB and other related parties ,” said the COO of FC Bekasi City, Wafa Amri.

Meanwhile, Serang Serang manager Babay Karnawi only asked PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) to provide certainty regarding the continuation of the competition.

“I have a headache because previously the LIB had been announced for two weeks. But if it was extended, it would be a headache too. Now I am referring to the LIB letter that the competition was suspended for two weeks. Now our team is still continuing with training, not having a holiday. But basically, all of our decisions go with the LIB. as a league operator,” said Babay.

“It’s better to have saklek than to be uncertain. It seems like yesterday the LIB was good at issuing a decision to stop the competition for two weeks. Next, I want saklek if it’s completely stopped, then stop it, if you want to stop for two weeks and continue without spectators, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s certain. Because if the decision is not obviously the club loses,” said Babay added.
