The municipal sports school of judo and jiu-jitsu and the Judo Club of Manzanares (Ciudad Real) inaugurated days ago what will be its 2022-23 season. Act that was attended by the mayor of the town, Julián Nieva.

It was on Saturday, October 8, a special moment in the ‘José Cañizares’ judo room as it was possible to celebrate a happy reunion after the summer. The beginning of a new course for the municipal sports school and the Manzanares Judo Club.

A new season of martial arts, in which Master Cañizares was present, who at 84 years of age began the new course with the enthusiasm of a child. And they go 45 in a row! If teacher Cañizares is long-lived, the only survivor of the first season of classes, so is the other teacher, Paqui Moreno, who is celebrating her 34th season in Manzanares.

150 young people between 6 and 16 years old participate in the season

As has become customary in recent years, Mayor Julián Nieva visited the classes on the first day of the municipal sports school. Accompanied by the Councilor for Sports Manuel José Palacios, he wished all those present a profitable course in which they can continue “enjoying the sport they love so much.”

In total, around fifty young people between the ages of 6 and 16 participate this season in the municipal sports school, while the judo club classes Manzanares have this time with 25 participants. Some “very positive” figures, according to club president Pedro Callejas.
