the austrian Dominic Thiem showed that he is back and played his second consecutive semifinal in the last two weeks, after certifying his qualification for the penultimate round of the Antwerp tournament by beating the Polish Hubert Hurkacz 3-6, 7-6 (9) and 7-6 (4), first favourite, in the quarterfinals.
An agonizing victory in which the Austrian, who became number 3 in the world ranking, had to overcome up to three match points in an exciting “tie-break” of the second set, which finally fell to Thiem’s side 9-11.
This result seemed to give new strength to the Austrian tennis playerwho returned to the circuit last March after being absent from the tracks for almost nine months due to a wrist injury.

As he showed with the 7-6 (4) with which Thiemwho played in the semi-finals of the Gijón tournament last week, won the third and final heat.
“This victory is especially incrediblebecause it is my first against an almost Top 10 rival -Hurkacz is number 11 in the world ranking- in my return process, ”said the Austrian in statements released by the ATP.
