Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo managed to advance to the semifinals of the Denmark Open 2022 after defeating their juniors, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin with a score of 15-21, 22-20, 22-20 in 56 minutes.

In the quarter-final match which was held at Jyske Bank Arena, Friday (21/10), the chase for points between the two pairs occurred in the first game. Leo/Daniel closed the interval with an 11-10 advantage.

After the break, Leo/Daniel managed to take control of the game. They then led 14-11, 16-14, and finally closed the first game with a 21-15 victory. In the second game, Leo/Daniel tried to maintain consistency, but failed.

Both had an 11-8 lead at the interval, and continued to lead until 19-18. However, at critical moments, Marcus/Kevin managed to turn ahead 20-19 before being equalized to 20-20.

In the deuce phase, Marcus/Kevin proved to have mental steel and won two points to win 22-20 in the second game. The match continued into the deciding game.

Leo/Daniel again faced difficult obstacles from Marcus/Kevin, but managed to lead 11-9 at the interval. After that, Leo/Daniel managed to get away up to 17-13, but Marcus/Kevin appeared adamant and turned 20-18 ahead.

In a stressful situation, Leo/Daniel managed to grab two points to force a 20-20 deuce. But again Marcus/Kevin were more clinical in the deciding points and won 22-20.

With this result, The Minions have the right to advance to the top four and will face the Malaysian pair, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, who advanced after winning 21-16, 21-19 over Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty (India).
