the DRC hits Algeria, Tunisia falls in the Congo, Senegal silent…

The matches of the second round go from AFCON qualifiers under 23 continued this Sunday across the continent. In the clash of the day, DR Congo made short work of Algeria in Kinshasa (4-1). It only took 3 minutes for Gloire Mujaya, TP Mazembe striker, to find the fault, then Jonathan Ikangalombo, DCMP scorer, offered himself an express double (18th, 20th).

John Bakata of TP Mazembe drove the point home in the second half (57e) and, despite the late score reduction of the left side of Levante, Chemseddine Bekkouche (85e), it would take a feat for the Fennecs U23 to turn things around next Saturday when they return to Sétif. Travel to Central Africa complicated also for Tunisia, 1-0 defeat by Congo following a goal by Gloire Bassinga after only one minute!

For its part, Senegal stood up to Burkina Faso (0-0) who received it in Cotonou in Benin and will try to make the difference at home on the return. Same score for Egypt in Eswatini (0-0). On the other hand, Ghana, winner 2-1 in Mozambique, and Gabon, which won 1-0 in Madagascar thanks to a goal from its captain Emmanuel Essogho (65th), took a solid option on the qualification for the next round.
