Waiting for the real start, the NBA is back with its preseason. Little more than warm-up matches, to get your muscles in motion and try out some patterns that may come in handy in the future. Despite this, the wait to see again the major stars of the NBA firmament is great and these days it is slowly being repaid. So let’s review together the most interesting curiosities that these races have given us, starting from the debut of Simone Fontecchio.
- Tonight came the(semi) official debut in Fontecchio with the Utah Jazz shirt. The Salt Lake City team lost 82-114 to the Raptors, proving they are still far behind in condition and, no doubt, in terms of talent as well. The positive note, especially for us Italians, was Fontecchio’s debut: for him 9 minutes on the pitch, with a 1/4 shot and 5 points. The former Baskonia started off the bench and entered the field in the fourth quarter, with Utah already down by 20 points after a second half horrible from 64-33 for the opponents. Fontecchio tried to get in rhythm, but without being able to make a significant impact. A basket from below, three points scored for free and two rebounds captured: these are the figures put together by the talented Azzurro, who will surely have time and opportunity to make up and show his skills overseas.
- Historic victory for the Adelaide 36ers, who beat the Phoenix Suns 134-124. This is the first victory for an NBL team against an NBA team, seven years after that 2015 in which Fenerbahce managed to surprise the Brooklyn Nets in the preseason. The Arizona team get 22 points each from Deandre Ayton and Mikal Bridges, while Cameron Payne tries to shake off the bench with 23 points. Not enough, however, to be able to tame the opponents’ dream evening. The 36ers, in fact, made it rain triple with a incredible 24/43 from three points. - Trial dominant by Jabari Smith. The Houston Rockets beat the San Antonio Spurs 96-134 and the Auburn rookie has fun. For him, 21 points in 24 minutes with an excellent 5/8 from the arc.
