While the formalization of the takeover of OL was to take place this week, a new date was announced tonight. It will finally be on October 21, that John Textor will buy the Rhone club. Via a press release, the OL group company explained that the sale had been postponed, due to various technical stages to be finalized.

“This additional time will be used to finalize the legal documentation and final steps to complete the transaction.”

If the basic date of September 30 had been announced initially for information purposes, another date could not be ruled out, as may occur during such a transaction. It is therefore John Textor, through the company Eagle Football, who will become the next owner of OL. A few days ago, the American businessman was still looking for a new investor after the withdrawal of Bill Foley, so it is the investment fund Ares which will contribute to the takeover of the French club by investing nearly 400 million euros. This sale is good news for the current president Jean-Michel Aulas, who will always remain at the club and who sees OL develop economically on a large scale. As a reminder, Textor is someone already very established in football, since he holds shares in Crystal Palace, and he is the majority shareholder of the Brazilian club Botafogo.
