The Chairperson of the Arema Panpel was suspended for 20 years by PSSI in 2010

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

The head of the Arema Panpel, Abdul Haris, who was involved the tragedy of Kanjuruhan ever received punishment from PSSI in 2010.

Abdul Haris was named one of the suspects in the Kanjuruhan tragedy by the police for not making safety documents and ignoring requests from the security forces. He was also responsible for selling 42,000 tickets that exceeded the stadium’s capacity.

Previously, PSSI also imposed a lifelong ban on football activities for Abdul Haris.

The punishment further tarnished the name of Abdul Haris, who had received a sentence from the PSSI Komdis 12 years ago. In 2010, Abdul Haris was banned from being active in national football for 20 years.

At that time Abdul Haris was proven to have tried to bribe the PSSI Komdis and committed defamation.

The punishment started with a sanction to the Arema organizing committee because the crowd overflowed during the match against Persema. In the verdict of the PSSI Komdis trial on January 21, 2010, Arema was sentenced to a fine of Rp. 50 million and one closed match for Singo Edan.

Then at the Komdis trial on February 4, 2010 it was stated that Abdul Haris had tried to bribe the PSSI Komdis exactly the day before Arema was sentenced on January 21.

The PSSI Komdis received evidence of Abdul Harris’ attempt to bribe Abdul Harris from a recorded conversation with Malang local radio which was published on the rcbfm.net site. As quoted from secondIn that discussion, there were accusations against the then Chairman of the PSSI Komdis, Hinca Panjaitan, who asked for a commission of 10 percent of ticket revenue so that Arema’s sentence was commuted.

Hinca then called Haris and stated that Abdul Haris had confessed to defaming the PSSI Komdis and admitted that he had tried to bribe to arrange for Arema’s punishment.

The 20-year sentence for Abdul Haris was supposed to end in 2030, but the man was back in the ARema committee position in 2013. This could happen because of dualism in PSSI.

Because of the dualism in the parent organization of Indonesian football, many decisions have been made by PSSI, aka abolishing or pardoning.
