The big events | The Herald of Aguascalientes

One of the great successes of the administration commanded by Manuel Aceves Rubio was the ability to organize events not only locally, but also internationally, making Aguascalientes one of the most important sports capitals in all of Mexico.
There were more than 650 events that were held during these six years, which left an unprecedented economic impact and sports work that had never been done on such a scale. Therefore, we review some of the most important events that were received in these six years that were special and exciting in various sports.
Probably, the most remembered event organized by this administration was the U20 Women’s Indoor Volleyball World Cup, which took place in 2019 and was hosted by the Poliforum Morelos. In this tournament, the best teams from around the world gathered in our state, which responded impressively, filling the stands of the Poliforum in something rarely seen. The support for the Mexican team and the atmosphere that was experienced in the grand final, where Japan was champion by beating Italy, was one of the most emotional moments that have been experienced in these six years.
Likewise, another outstanding moment was the organization of the Pan American Mountain Biking that granted tickets for Tokyo 2020, also in 2019. The Ocote track was the stage, where Daniela Campuzano and Gerardo Ulloa won their classifications before a great response from the local fans, who came together regardless of the distance from the track. Another prominent event was the 2020 Women’s Baseball Premundial, which had Mexico as one of the winners of a ticket in another contest that had large entries.
It should be noted that, with volleyball festivals, the return of the NORCECA Tour to the fair’s programs and the Pan American baseball games at different ages, these two sports were among the most active during this administration. However, the disciplines that had the most activity were both cycling and badminton, which became organizational strengths for our state.
Within cycling, innumerable competitions were received in all modalities. BMX, track, mountain and road did not get tired of having national or international events in the different tracks that the state has, while the IDEA Olympic gym became the preferred venue to host tournaments of all kinds for badminton, that brought the best exponents of the continent and the world on more than one occasion to Aguascalientes.
