The Bertāns Valmiera Basketball School team will be led by Arnis Vecvagars – Basketball – Sportacentrs.com

“I am sure that Arni Vecvagar’s joining will be a great benefit for us both in the short term and in the long term. Arnim will have two responsibilities at the school – he will lead the “Ramirent” National Basketball League team and will also be responsible for the older groups in the youth league, which is a very important stage in our basketball system. Arni’s second duty will be the position of sports director of the Bertāns Valmiera basketball school. He will be in charge of creating school guidelines, school programs, coaches’ manuals, so that the training process for our school children becomes even better. As well as helping our coaches with advice, organizing a common vision so that our school mechanism works like the best academies in Europe,” said the general manager and school director of Valmiera Glass/Vidzeme Augstskola. Robert’s line.

Vecvagars represented the Latvian national team from 1992 to 2005, and also played basketball professionally both in Latvia and abroad. The six-time Latvian champion became a coach after his playing career, managing both Latvian clubs and Latvian national teams and working abroad. The 48-year-old specialist will now contribute to Valmiera basketball.

“It is a great pleasure and, of course, also a responsibility to join the Bertāns Valmiera Basketball School. Bertani’s surname does not require any comments in the context of European and world basketball, so I believe that the coaching staff and the management of the sports school should take this into account. We need to develop and improve a system for preparing young players for high-level basketball. We will also try to do that. Let’s create a unified system, handwriting and style so that the entire sports school works synchronously. Let’s do everything to the best of our conscience and use all our knowledge, let’s put our heads together. The main goal is to improve the talent of these competitive players in order to replenish the Latvian basketball family with new, high-quality and prepared players as soon as possible. Of course, this is not a quick and easy process. It will take a long time, but we will all try to work together and build this system in Valmiera so that it becomes one of the leading ones in Latvia,” said Vecvagar himself.

Valmieri will start the NBL season already tomorrow, when at At 19:00, they will host RTU basketball players on their court.
