The Atlanta Braves and rookie Spencer Strider agreed to a six-year, $75 million deal on Monday, FanSided’s Robert Murray reported.
The deal also includes a $22 million team option for the 2029 season or a $5 million option to release him.
Strider will earn $1 million per season in 2023 and 2024, $4 million in 2025, $20 million in 2026 and $22 million in the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
The Braves selected Strider in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB Draft. He made his major league debut in 2021, posting a 3.86 ERA in a pair of appearances, but it was in 2022 that he broke through.
The 23-year-old posted an 11-5 record with a 2.67 ERA, 1.83 FIP and an average of 13.81 strikeouts per nine innings in 131.2 innings pitched.
Strider missed the final two weeks of the regular season with an oblique injury. The Braves are hopeful he can return for their NL Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, which begins Tuesday in Atlanta.
