The Spanish Football Federation (FEF) and its Portuguese counterpart (FPF) have incorporated the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) into the Iberian bid to organize the 2030 World Cup. The proposal, announced this Wednesday at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon has the unconditional support of UEFA in a global project that transforms European football in an exceptional situation.

Luis Rubiales and Fernando Gomes, the top leaders of both organizations, understand that there is nothing better than a World Cup to forcefully transmit a message that will serve as a source of inspiration in the future.

With the maximum support of Aleksander Ceferin, president of UEFA, the Iberian candidacy incorporates the federation chaired by Andriy Pavelko in order to build bridges and project a message of unity, solidarity and generosity from all of European football.

Ukraine will join the candidacy of Spain and Portugal for the 2030 World Cup

The candidacy strengthens ties with Europe by generating hope and providing reconstruction tools to the Ukrainian people, who have expressed their pride and gratitude for participating in this project.

The coordinating commission for the 2030 World Cup, led by Antonio Laranjo, is already working with the participation of Ukraine, which will soon incorporate the members of its delegation. The Ukrainian arrival does not alter the established roadmap: Spain maintains its eleven venues and Portugal will continue with three.

The candidacy of Spain, Portugal and Ukraine has the approval of both the Government chaired by Pedro Sánchez and the Royal House. And it ensures that it will meet all the expected delivery times according to the FIFA order book. “We trust that the world football family will embrace and support this initiative,” say Rubiales and Gomes.
