On Sunday in France, Toms Skujiņš demonstrated an active performance, who took the initiative in the last kilometer and brought his teammate Edvards Tens to a great position, the Belgian winning second place. Tom himself finished 40th, gaining three more UCI world ranking points. This was the last start of the season for Carnikavies.

In the world ranking, Toms, as the only cyclist from the Baltic countries, was able to finish the season among the top 100 athletes. Currently, the “Trek – Segafredo” cyclist occupies the 94th place.

The past season for Tom can be evaluated in two parts. At the beginning of the season, the high-value result was achieved in the “Strade Bianche” world tour classic, where Skujiņš won 16th place. For the fifth year in a row, the Carnik native started the Tour de France, where his main challenge was a stomach virus. Manfully, Tom persevered and successfully reached the finish line on the Champs Elysées.

The second half of the season was very high value. Ten of the 12 competitions held, the Latvian scored UCI world ranking points. The seventh place in the world tour one-day cycling race “San Sebastin Clasicoa” held in Spain must be considered as the most valuable start. This was followed by an eighth place overall in the Tour Poitou and a ninth place in the Bertagne Classic.

Also performing well in North America. The fourth place was won in the “MaryLand” classic, while the 12th and 14th place respectively in the Quebec and Montreal cycling races included in the world tour calendar. The fifth Skujinš was also in the “Binche – Chimay – Binche” one-day competition in Belgium.
