Six Girona with a white background

As he assured on Wednesday, Sunday’s match at Santiago Bernabeu it will be very special for Miguel Gutierrez. The left-back stood out at Pinto and Getafe, but at a very young age, at just ten years old, he was caught by Madrid where he spent the rest of his training until this summer he was transferred to Girona. Gutiérrez is not the only player in the Girona team’s squad with a clean sheet. There are a few more. He is, however, the only one who has made his debut with the first white team. It was March 2021 in the field of Cadiz. The remaining, Reinier, Javi Hernández, Fuidias, Borja García and Samu Saiz they did not have the opportunity to debut in official competition with the first team. Some like Reinier and Borja García did participate in training, while Fuidias was even called up three times. Javi Hernández was also called up for eight games, when he belonged to the subsidiary, during the resumption of the 2019-20 season after the pandemic. For his part, Samu Saiz still arrived at the White House younger than Gutiérrez. He did it at just 8 years old from Omega and stayed there until he was 18, even playing for Castilla, the subsidiary.

Samu Saiz entered Valdebebas at 8 years old.

Gutiérrez is the one who has tasted Chamartín’s elite the most. However, Fuidias and Javi Hernández were very close. The goalkeeper from Bergueda spent nine years with the white team, from where he arrived, with 12, from Gimnàstic Manresa in 2013. Third goalkeeper last season and member of the European champion squad, Fuidias was called up in a friendly against Roma and in two League games against Celta and Barça in 2020. This summer opened a new stage in Montilivi. Javi Hernández also landed in Girona a few months ago. The left back also has a white pass. Trained in Sevilla’s academy, he spent five seasons at Valdebebas before embarking on a path of transfers to El Ejido, Oviedo and Leganés. The Andalusian player, a regular in training during the end of the 2019-20 season, was close to making his debut.

A little further away were Reinier and Borja García. The Brazilian, for whom Madrid paid 30 million, trained several times under Zinedine Zidane but never made his debut and packed his bags for Dortmund. Borja García was also a regular resource when it came to completing training although he was never able to debut (2012-14). Finally, Samu Saiz, despite being considered one of the pearls of the squad and making his debut at the age of 17 in Segona B with Julen Lopetegui’s subsidiary at just seventeen years old (2008-10), never finished having chances of promotion and signed for Seville
