Seventh gold medal for Jany!

For the purposes of the photo, having donned the national jersey, Jany pinpoints with application his seven gold medals obtained in the national championship and the two bronze won in European archery competition.

A competitor at heart since 2015, Jean-Henri Larrieu-Manan is no longer unknown in the world of archers, senior men’s category, of the French Free Shooting Federation (FFTL). His consecutive successes at the national level no longer leave much room for amateurism but come close to professionalism. This is a chance for the Estéous Archers club based in Pouyastruc to shine at the top level. Along with rugby, handball, tennis, etc., archery reinforces the sporting dimension of the town.

The 2022 national championship bringing together 310 participants took place over a two-day weekend in Sarlat, in the Périgord Noir. On a challenging 11 km course, under the sun, it is a question of reaching targets emerging at distances varying from 10 to 74 meters. The shooter must estimate the distance, no rangefinder allowed! When shooting, the arrow must not shake, which requires good physical condition, like athletes practicing biathlon. To keep in shape, Jany basically walks twice a week with, of course, a flawless lifestyle, that’s the requirement of sport at this level. Our septuagenarian still remains motivated in the pursuit of competitions, a source of happiness that he shares with Lulu, his wife, after a hard working life.

Jany does not forget to thank the organizers of the French championship. He admits that he wants to take a little rest immediately before thinking about the next national meeting in 2023 in Haute-Savoie.
