Seine-et-Marne: Gabriel Costa, vice-champion of France in archery

The prize list of Gabriel Costa is already full. Since 2019, this young archer chained the performances within the club of Fublaines in Seine-et-Marne. His latest? A silver medal to French championships of tir Beursault. This title of vice-champion of France among the benjamins followed thegold at departmental level et regional.

Since this year, he has been practicing Bersault, a traditional discipline practiced at 30 m. And with a target different from the targets seen in particular at the Olympic Games or the World Cup.

The Fublaines club already has 33 titles

The youngest of the siblings, Gabriel Costa followed in the footsteps of his eldest, and his dad before him, founder of club of Fublaines in 2017 et archer since 1986.

Antoine Costa is both manager and trainer of the twenty licensed archers at Fublaines, a club which already has 33 championship titles, including the first national on Sunday 2 October.

The leader, designated a knight by the French archery federation, is the Robin Hood of children. For them, he invests time and kilometers: “They come from Oise and La Ferté-sous-Jouarre. We take them to competitions and make them meet other young people from other clubs. »

Organized training sessions

With only two two-hour slots each week during which he can train at the Fublaines village hall, Gabriel Costa and his father have “set up their own archery game outside, near the football stadium. “We train at 18m in the village hall, where there are four indoor targets and a double target. And 30 m at the city stadium, ”says Antoine, before taking his son to training. “We increase the difficulty so that it is easier on the day of the competition”, he specifies.

Not subsidized by the Pays de Meaux and only up to 1,000 euros by the town hall, the club draws its funding from certain competitions. Medalist many times since its creation, the club could “buy more equipment, loaned to beginners, and targets”, with more resources.
