Second Division Series game between Yankees and Guardians postponed due to rain

Game 2 of the American League Division Series between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians was postponed due to forecast rain and rescheduled for Friday at noon.

With the rainout, teams could play four days in a row.

Games 3 and 4 are scheduled to be played in Cleveland this weekend. If Game 5 is needed, it will be played Monday night at Yankee Stadium.

For Friday’s game, the announced pitchers remain with a duel between Cuban Néstor Cortés (12-4) for the Yankees and Shane Bieber (13-8) for the Guadianes.

The Yankees won Tuesday’s best-of-five Series opener 4-1, and the rainout followed a rare scheduled bye between Games 1 and 2.

The winner advances to the American League Championship Series against the Houston Astros or the Seattle Mariners, which favors the former 1-0.
