A Russian court has rejected an appeal by U.S. women’s basketball superstar Brittney Griner, who was sentenced in August to nine years in prison in a penal colony after pleading guilty to bringing a small amount of marijuana into Russia. Griner was arrested at the Moscow airport in February when Russian customs authorities found e-cigarette cartridges containing a small amount of cannabis oil in her luggage.
