Rubi: “Girona is a set-piece machine”

The victory against Rayo two days ago ended a streak of four consecutive defeats by an Almeria that lost again last weekend against Betis. The series is therefore worse (3 out of 18) than that of Girona (5 out of 18) and this has already generated the first doubts in a club where, since the arrival of Turki Al-Sheikh, there is little patience. In this sense, Joan Francesc Ferrer, Rubi is not questioned but a stumble against Girona would multiply the doubts surrounding the team. “We are always criticized, win or lose. As a coach, I know that a lot is said about me in defeats”, said the ex-Girona player. In this sense, the captain emphasized that Girona is “a machine” when it comes to creating danger in strategic actions. For Rubi, Girona have “internalized their idea of the game” and we will have to prevent them from having much of the ball. The coach only thinks about victory. “We don’t want to draw. Winning will make us make a big jump against a direct rival in the classification.” Rubi finds that the dynamics of Girona’s results, like that of Almeria, can be “normal” and sees that the match can be “like a game of chess”.
