Rangnick explains United’s reasons for denying Diaz

Ralf Rangnick lasted only six months at Manchester United, his plan was long-term for the reconstruction of one of the biggest teams in Europe, but in the end after the bad results where he only won 11 of 31 games played, made him have to say goodbye.

The German DT had a transfer plan for the club in the winter market of the 2021/2022 season, but as he revealed in an interview for the Bild newspaper, United were never interested in the names you proposed. “There was no such transfer file, and the club never wanted it.”

Luis Díaz, among Rangnick’s plans

The winger who was in Porto de Portugal was being seen by several clubs. According to the coach, one of the names he proposed to the leaders of Manchester United was the one of Luis Díaz, in the end the Colombian signed for Liverpool and stood out that season.

“We were talking about players like Josko Gvardiol and Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig. Those were realistic names. We also talk about Alvaro Morata, Luis Diaz, Dusan Vlahovic and, as I said, Haaland when they were still on the field. But the club decided at that time to rebuild the team under the new coach”, he stated.

The board already had its plans

Manchester United wanted to rebuild with another manager, that’s why they signed Erik ten Hag. The board had its plans for the summer market and that is why with the arrival of the Dutch DT signed several stars such as Tyrell Malaysia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Antony.

For Ralf Rangnick, Manchester United needed a revolution immediately, but they decided to wait. The German would have suggested them among 10 new players to start a new path. The German now works as a coach for the Austrian national team.
