Quindiano athlete won gold in South American Games

That pride! A Quindian athlete won gold at the South American Games in Asunción in the obstacle course.

Gerard Giraldo, from Quindío, won gold in the 3,000 meters with obstacles of the 2022 South American Games in Asunción in Paraguay.

The coffee grower is the third athlete from Quindío to win medals in the international competition that is part of the Olympic cycle. The other athletes have been María Julieth Pérez bronze in Badminton and 2 bronzes for Clara Juliana Guerrero in Bolo.

With Giraldo’s contribution, there are already 79 gold medals for the Colombian delegation in Guarani territory, reaching a total of 255 medals (79 gold, 79 silver and 98 bronze), ranking second in the general table led by Brazil with 319 metals ( 133 gold, 100 silver and 86 bronze).

Quindian athletes are also preparing to face the challenge of the next National Sports Games of the Coffee Region 2023.
