More than half of the academy’s approximately 50 students are Ukrainian basketball players who cannot train and study in their homeland due to hostilities. The young people born between 2003 and 2009, who receive education in local schools in parallel with training, are from different Ukrainian cities – Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Yuzhne, Dnipro, Cherkasy and Melitopol.

“Prometey” plans to involve academy students in its training processes and games.

“VEF basketball academy in Valka” plays in the second strongest league of Latvia, or the National Basketball League (NBL).

This season, the Ukrainian club competes in the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League, and will also compete in the ULEB Eurocup, playing home games in Riga.
