Premier League: El Aston Villa despide a Gerrard

El Aston Villa confirmed the dismissal of their manager, Steven Gerrardwho lost this Thursday 3-0 against Fulham and who has the team on the verge of relegation in the Premier League.

After the loud chants in Craven Cottage, asking Gerrard’s head for the bad season of the ‘villains’, the Birmingham club board made the decision to dispense with a Gerrard did not meet expectations. The former Liverpool legend arrived at Villa with the credentials of having restored glory to Glasgow Rangers, with their first Scottish league in a decade, and of leaving the Protestants leaders of the championship.

However, at Aston Villa he completed a disappointing first season, with a fourteenth place, and this one started it much worse, flirting with relegation and with just two wins in eleven days. The straw that broke the camel’s back was the thrashing conceded at Craven Cottage against a newly promoted team like Marc Silva’s Fulham. Gerrard leaves with 40 games directed at Villa, of which he only won thirteen, tied 8 and lost 19.

English is the fourth manager sacked in the Premier League this campaign, behind Bournemouth’s Scott Parker, Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Bruno Lage.
