The Montreal North athlete provided five 3-point shots in eight attempts. He also had seven rebounds and two assists, one of which led to a Goga Bitadze dunk.
Mathurin was drafted sixth in June after starring with the University of Arizona. He’s already a crowd favorite and the Pacers’ Twitter feed often highlights him. His points-per-game average is 24 in three games.
In the third quarter, Mathurin had three long shots in 2:20, after which his team led 86-76.
Tyrese Haliburton (24 points), Jalen Smith (19) and Bitadze (14) were also important elements in the Pacers’ victory (1-2). They added 15 rebounds each.
Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 22 points.
Indiana will play again Monday night in Philadelphia.
