Pau-Lacq-Orthez wins against Limoges in the 112th Betclic Elite Classic

Massimo Cancellieri: “Maybe some fans will want to throw stones at us”

Massimo Cancellieri (Limoges coach): “In Limoges, it’s true, everything goes faster. So, after these three defeats, maybe tonight some fans will want to throw stones at us (laughs). But I don’t care. I think everyone knows that we are not happy playing like this. We know what it takes to win. This long time in the locker room was necessary. You have to understand why, faced with a difficulty, instead of taking a step forward, you take two steps back. But I keep faith in this team because I know the work they do and the conquering face they show in training. If people doubt us, it will bond us even more. »
Eric Bartecheky (coach of Pau-Lacq-Orthez): “Regaining victory against Limoges after having lost the two classics of last year is a pleasure, beyond the balance sheet, which is also satisfactory (2 wins – 1 loss). We showed a lot of commitment. Everything is not perfect, of course, and that’s normal because it’s the start of the Championship. But we only conceded 62 points defensively, it’s interesting and I’m especially satisfied with the state of mind. We managed to respond, in particular, to the defensive changes proposed by Limoges, to their passages in the zone… Ada Sané did us good with his two 3-point shots, as did Gerald Ayayi, who had a difficult first pass, but who when he comes back in the third quarter, makes us win several baskets thanks to his defensive commitment. Everyone fought, like also Garrett Sim at Michael Stockton’s relay, when he was limited by faults. Afterwards, our situation is special (the club was saved in extremis this summer from administrative relegation), but that does not change the fact that we are ambitious and that we want to win the next match. » YO, in Pau
