OTC victory in a friendly against Communications

One week away from competing for the South American League and twelve days before the start of the National League, Oberá Tennis Club beat the local team of Comunicaciones last night in Mercedes (Corrientes) by 84-63 in what was the farewell of the Corrientes team before begin the tour of Mar del Plata, CABA and Junín, in what will be their first three games in the National League.
Mitchell and Torresi (OTC) were the game’s top scorers with 17 points each. In Communications Luciano Guerra added 14.

Oberá imposed the conditions and was left with an intense first half. At the beginning of the game, the team led by Demti proposed an intense defense with fast transitions and with Jonatan Torresi very effective. In the middle of the first quarter the missionary team got the maximum (16-6). The timeout requested by Saldaña woke up the locals who, with two consecutive three-pointers, one by Sahdi and the other by Guerra, put the comeback on track until they were within two points. He raised in the final OTC and closed the quarter better up 23 to 17.

The second ten minutes featured two totally different teams. OTC kept its script, closing the paths to the local shooters and defending the pick and roll well, to get fast counterattacks that were stretching the difference. The locals never found their way, and the missionaries showing a dynamic basketball with an intense defense and distributed scoring were the protagonists of the period, which ended up winning 48 to 31.

After the long break, the game remained within the parameters it had had in the first half. Oberá continued to show traits of an orderly team against an unknown Communications team that barely contributed 14 points in the 10 minutes against the 22 of the visit that allowed him to face the last stretch of the match winning 70 to 45.

The local team’s reaction never came, just an illusion at the beginning of the fourth quarter that was quickly neutralized. Afterwards everything was like it was then, an Oberá who showed a fast and orderly game, loading the offensive rebound well which gave him many second chances and a high percentage of effectiveness that allowed him to win this friendly by 84 to 63.
