Not good: Axelsen cannot train | BT Badminton

The Danish badminton star has problems with one leg, but hopes to be ready for the tournament in Odense.

If badminton star Viktor Axelsen is able to run, he will be racing against time to be ready for the Denmark Open, which begins on Tuesday next week.

Axelsen is struggling with an injury in one leg, which prevents him from training, and which therefore makes him a doubtful participant in the major international tournament in his hometown, Odense.

It writes TV2 Sports.

The 28-year-old from Fynbo is the reigning world champion, European champion and Olympic champion and is clearly the tournament’s biggest attraction.

He has not given up hope of being ready, but acknowledges that the injury will in any case interfere with his preparations.

– It is clear that it is not optimal, but I hope and believe that I will start training at the end of the week. So I still believe that I have to play, and I’m doing everything to get ready, says Viktor Axelsen to TV2 Sport.

If he gets healthy enough to line up, a tough opponent awaits already in the first match.

Axelsen will face Kunlavut Vitidsarn – the man he defeated less than two months ago in the WC final.
