NFL Week 7: picks, bets and predictions

Although it is hard for us to admit it, the 2022 season is marked by a common denominator: mediocrity.

After six weeks, 18 teams (56.2%) have a record of 2-4 or 3-3. The Indianapolis Colts they’re in the middle at 3-2-1 after their Week 1 draw against Houston.

Three division leaders are 3-3 (Baltimore, Tampa Bay and San Francisco) and only four teams (Philadelphia, Giants, Minnesota and Buffalo) can boast five wins or more, three of them from the NFC.

The NFC West has three teams (49ers, Rams and Seahawks) with a 3-3 record and the Arizona Cardinals they don’t look too far with their unspectacular 2-4.

Something similar happens in the AFC North, where the Ravens and Bengals are 3-3, followed by Cleveland and Pittsburgh, both 2-4.

If the trend continues for the rest of the season, it is very likely that we will have more than one team qualified for the Playoffs with only nine wins.

We complain and criticize Liga MX so much and look what the NFL has become.

We better go to the picks:

GAME OF THE WEEK

Kansas City (-3) at San Francisco

Last week, the Chiefs faced the defense that allowed the fewest yards per game (Buffalo) and this Sunday Kansas City again has to deal with the best defense in that category.

Yes, San Francisco is allowing an average of 255.8 yards per game, the lowest in the NFL entering Week 7.

Patrick Mahomes he commands the offense that averages the most points per game, with 29.8, so something has to give at Levi’s Stadium.

Mahomes y Jimmy Garoppolo were the starting quarterbacks in the Super Bowl LIVEwhen the Chiefs trailed 20-10 at the end of the third period and, led by their young quarterback, defeated the 49ers 31-20 in Miami to win their first NFL title in 50 years.

Mahomes (151 of 229, 1,736 yards, 106.1 rating) leads the league with 17 touchdown passes and his tight end Travis Kelce tops the touchdown receptions list with 7.

On Sunday, the Niners’ defense limited Atlanta’s dynamic tight end, Kyle Pittsin three receptions, 19 yards and a touchdown, but a couple of weeks ago Tyler Higbeeof the Rams, caught 10 balls for 73 yards.

If Kelce has 10 receptions against Francisco, it won’t be for 73 yards.

When the 49ers have the ball, the coach Kyle Shanahan (criticized in that Super Bowl loss for giving up the run) must get the ball to his running backs and try to control the time of possession to keep Mahomes on the bench.

Jeff Wilson he’s the leader in San Francisco’s backfield with 81 attempts, 400 yards (average 4.9 per rush) and a couple of touchdowns, but we all know that Deebo Samuel is another very profitable option in the Niners’ running game.

Kansas City’s defense, which is fourth in the league against the rush (90.5 yards per game), will do its best to shift the blame to Garoppolo, who had two interceptions last week at Atlanta but has zero interceptions in four of their last five games at home.

El pick: Kansas City has won three of the last four in the regular season, including 38-27 in 2018, Mahomes’ first season as the Chiefs’ full-time starter. San Francisco is 2-0 at home, but those wins have come against Seattle and the Rams. Chiefs 24-14 49ers

SURE PICK

Chicago at New England (-8)

Guess what…another MNF with few emotions and few touchdowns. Patriots 19-13 Bears

UPSET

New York Jets in Denver (-1.5)

The Jets have been underdogs in all of their games this season and have upset four of them. Jets 20-17 Broncos

TWO MINUTE DRIVE

New Orleans en Arizona (-2.5)

With DeAndre Hopkins back, Arizona’s offense has to improve dramatically. Certain? Cardinals 27-20 Saints

Cleveland and Baltimore (-6.5)

As long as Jacoby Brissett is the quarterback in Cleveland, there’s no way he can trust that team. Ravens 24-14 Browns

Tampa Bay (-10.5) at Carolina

Tom Brady is not the same as other years because he can’t seem to put the Bucs as his priority in life. Buccaneers 20-10 Panthers

Atlanta at Cincinnati (-6)

Another upset from Marcus Mariota and the Falcons? I do not think so. Bengals 27-20 Falcons

Detroit vs. Dallas (-7)

Dak Prescott returns, but is that good or bad news for Dallas? Cowboys 23-17 Lions

New York Giants en Jacksonville (-3)

This game could be a trap for the Giants and just look at the spread. Logic says… Giants 26-20 Jaguars

Indianapolis at Tennessee (-3)

Tennessee has won four in a row in that rivalry and I think it will be five on Sunday. Titans 28-24 Colts

Green Bay (-5) en Washington

With Taylor Heinicke in front, Aaron Rodgers will avoid a third straight loss. Packers 27-20 Commanders

Houston at Las Vegas (-7)

Duel between the two worst teams in the AFC. Davante Adams doesn’t like this. Raiders 26-20 Texans

Seattle at Los Angeles Chargers (-6)

This game will be much closer than many anticipate. What’s more, don’t rule out a Seattle win. Chargers 28-25 Seahawks

Pittsburgh and Miami (-7)

Tua Tagovailoa returns to the starting lineup against a defense that will not hesitate to attack him all night. Dolphins 20-17 Steelers

Bye week: Buffalo, LA Rams, Minnesota and Philadelphia

In the past week: 9-5

Total in the season: 48-45-1
