NBA – Dallas pulverizes Memphis, the Celtics remain undefeated, Giannis Antetokounmpo carries Milwaukee

Overwhelming. The Dallas Mavericks made short work of the Memphis Grizzlies on the night of Saturday to Sunday (137-96). Luka Doncic shone in his distance duel with Ja Morant. The Celtics, themselves, won a third row success against the Magic (120-126).

Finalists in the Western Conference last season, the Mavericks were able to count on a Doncic on fire to win their first game this season. The Slovenian star scored 32 points, took 7 rebounds and offered 10 assists. Freshly recruited from Houston, Christian Wood added 25 points and 12 rebounds to ensure the victory of the Mavericks against the too imprecise Grizzlies (9 of 33 at 3 pts), where Ja Morant was contained to 20 points.

For the Celtics, everything is going like clockwork. After a rather close match, the NBA finalists of last season ended up taking over the Magic, carried by an untenable Jayson Tatum, posting 40 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks on the clock. The Celtics star becomes the first player in franchise history to score 100 points in the first three games of the season. Derrick White also stood out (27 pts), and Jaylen Brown scored 12 points and took 9 rebounds.

Embiid and his 40 points were not enough against Spurs

At the bottom of the standings, the Sixers chained their side a third defeat, losing to the San Antonio Spurs (114-105). After losing to Boston and Milwaukee, Doc Rivers’ men could hope to revive against a rebuilding San Antonio franchise. But, despite Joel Embiid’s 40 points and 13 rebounds, the Sixers suffered defensively, leaving six Spurs players to score 11 or more points. “We are not ready yet“, lamented Rivers.”Frankly, we’re just not ready. We are not ready to win yet. We feel it and so we have a lot of work to do.”

In Chicago, the Cleveland Cavaliers, particularly skilful behind the circle (16 out of 27) dominated the Bulls (128-96), thanks in particular to their rookie Donovan Mitchell (32 pts). Finally, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 44 points and took 12 rebounds to allow the Bucks to win against the Houston Rockets (125-105).
