Midón and Monzón make their debut on the M25 of Río Cuarto

The tennis players from Corrientes Lautaro Midón and Ignacio Monzón will begin today their participation in the individual main draw of the M25 in Río Cuarto (Córdoba). Both entered directly to the main stage of the tournament and yesterday they met their rivals from the classification.

Both will be presented at the Cordovan contest not before 12 noon, in different scenarios where the contest takes place, which has a prize pool of 25,000 dollars and takes place on clay surface courts.

Monzón, fifth seeded in the tournament, will face Santiago Gramajo. It will be the first time that both Argentine tennis players face each other on the circuit.

For his part, Lautaro Midón will have as a rival his namesake, Lautaro Agustín Falabella. It will also be the first time that both tennis players face each other in the professional field.

On the other hand, Monzón and Midón began yesterday their participation in the doubles draw together with their respective partners. The first, along with Leonardo Aboian, were the only ones who advanced to the next stage.

In the first round, the favorite duo to win the tournament, in the initial round, defeated Lautaro Correa Beguerie and Bautista Leguizamón 6-3 and 6-2.

For his part, Lautaro Midón, accompanied by Juan Manuel La Serna, lost to Franco Emanuel Egea and Gabriel Alejandro Hidalgo 6-2 and 6-4.

Argentines in Rio

The Argentines Renzo Olivo, Juan Bautista Torres and Genaro Olivieri won their respective debut matches yesterday and settled in the second round of the Rio de Janeiro Tennis Challenger.

Rosario Olivo beat Portuguese Gastao Elías, with partials of 3-6, 6-3 and 6-4. In the next instance it will be measured against Luciano Darderi (181), born in Villa Gesell and who assumed Italian citizenship in 2020, who defeated Camilo Ugo Carabelli from Buenos Aires (123), 4-6, 6-1 and 6-1.

Torres, meanwhile, beat Juan Pablo Paz 7-6, 6-0. His next opponent will be Rosario Federico Coria (72), who last Monday easily defeated Brazilian Gustavo de Almeida by a double 6-1.

For his part, Olivieri defeated Mariano Navone 7-5, 2-6, 6-2. In the second round he will face the Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas.
