Manon Deketer in bronze, second French medal

Second French medal at the Judo Worlds. After Amandine Buchard on Friday, Manon Deketer also won a bronze medal in -63kg at the World Championships (from October 6 to 13) organized in Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Sunday October 9. Beaten in the semi-final by the world number 3, the Canadian Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard, the judoka from Blanc-Mesnil disposed just before the limit of the Polish Angelika Szymanska during her fight for bronze.

At 24, Deketer, lined up for her first Worlds in the category of reigning Olympic champion Clarisse Agbégnénou – in the recovery phase after giving birth to her daughter in June – won her first major international medal. “I knew I could beat the best and get a medal. It feels great, it’s a joy, hard work pays off”reacted the judoka after his victory.

The other Frenchman of the day, Alpha Djalo, engaged in less than 81 kg, lost in the second round against the Georgian Tato Grigalashvili, European champion and seeded number 1 of these Worlds.
