Man Utd: Ten Hag justifies his handling of Ronaldo

Long confined to a substitute role after his eventful summer, Cristiano Ronaldo (37 years old, 12 games and 2 goals in all competitions this season) has had two starts with Manchester United this week, first against Omonia Nicosia (1-0 ) Thursday in the Europa League then Sunday against Newcastle (0-0) in the Premier League. Unable to find the fault, the striker appeared frustrated when he was replaced by Marcus Rashford in the 72nd minute. Mancunian coach Erik ten Hag justified his choice.

“We have to play four games in ten days. I want to keep the attackers fresh. We had to turn, highlighted the technician in front of the media. Rashy (Rashford) did not have enough energy for the whole game, we have to so planning everything. I thought Rashy was going to have an impact and if he had scored the goal we would have done everything right.”
