Patriots quarterback Mac Jones was ruled out of playing Sunday against the Packers even though he made a surprise return to practice on Friday.
The pin was uniformed, with the left ankle well bandaged as he moved cautiously during the training period that was open to the media.
It was his first appearance in practice after missing the first two sessions of the week.
However, he officially appeared without participation in the official injury report.

Coach Bill Belichick said earlier in the week that if Mac Jones couldn’t play, the veteran backup Brian Hoyer would take his place against Green Bay.
Prior to practice, Belichick said the team wanted to wait before making a statement about his potential availability for the game.
“Ultimately that will be a decision of the medical staff, in consultation with Mac Jones, of course,” he said. Belichick.

“The medical evaluation, speaking with the player and as a coach one must receive information to make a decision, if there is a decision to be made. If you don’t have to take it medically, then I don’t get involved, ”he added.
A decision was made sometime after Friday’s practice, opening the door for Hoyer to lead the offense on Sunday.
