Luis Patiño sanctioned for possession of prohibited substances | Mexico news

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA for its acronym in English) has announced the suspension for three years of the Mexican tennis player Luis Patino who admitted possession and use or attempted use of substances included in the prohibited list of the World Anti-Doping Agency (OR).

Throughout the investigation, the HATE found that the player, ranked 764 in the ranking ATPwas in possession of clenbuterol and stanozolol, both banned substances.

Last September 18 Patino admitted possession and use, or attempted use of both substances, thereby admitting to rule violations anti-doping under articles 2.2 and 2.6 of the Tennis Anti-Doping Program (TADP).

The TADP provides for a one-year reduction in the sanction for certain anti-doping rule violations based on admission of the facts. Therefore, the HATE determined that the player should be subject to a period of ineligibility of three years, reduced from four years, and retroactive from the July 15, 2022, when the player was initially provisionally suspended. Therefore, the player’s ban will be extended until July 14, 2025.
