2023 Asian U-17 Cup Qualification completed and made 28 teams failed to qualify for the finals next year.
Indonesia became one of the teams that failed to advance to the Asian Cup finals. Garuda Asia troops had to be willing to be eliminated after losing 1-5 to Malaysia in the last match of the Group B preliminary round.
Indonesia actually only needs a draw against Malaysia to lock the ticket to qualify for the Asian countries’ football party next year. However, the crushing defeat of Malaysia shattered the dreams of Garuda Asia troops.
Indonesia was also confirmed to be eliminated along with four other teams in Group B, namely the United Arab Emirates, Palestine and Guam.
Indonesia is the only ASEAN giant team that failed to advance to the finals. The Red and White Team failed to follow in the footsteps of Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia, which successfully locked a ticket to the U-17 Asian Cup next year.
Oman, which has twice won the U-17 Asian Cup title, had to swallow the bitter pill in the qualifying round. Oman lost to Qatar in the Group C phase.
The same thing was followed by Iraq. The 2016 U-17 Asian Cup champion was only able to finish third behind Qatar and Oman who were members of the Hell group.
Furthermore, the final round will be held from May 20, 2023. A total of 16 teams that qualify will compete for the title in the final match which will take place on May 20 next year.
