Two bronze medals go to the Untermain
Leo Schubert (Judokan Aschaffenburg) and Simon Lebold (TV Elsenfeld) won bronze medals at the Bavarian U13 Judo Championships in Neutraubling.
At the highest championship of this age group, where boys and girls competed together for the first time, the athletes from the Lower Main had to admit defeat to the south and in particular to the excellent youth work of Munich Großhadern.
In the first weigh-in group, Paul Weberpals (DJK Aschaffenburg) was able to start after a defeat in the consolation round. He defeated the North Bavarian champions from Höchberg and entered the small final. A defeat meant fifth place for him.
Paul’s clubmates Lisa Gerlach and Hasa Bouchikhi competed in the same weight class. Both won their first fight, but then had to admit defeat because she could keep up technically but not physically against the boys. However, the Bavarian Judo Association has reconsidered the system and will again offer separate championships next year. In the end, it was seventh place for Lisa Gerlach and ninth for Hasa Bouchikhi.
In the weight class up to 44 kg, Aurelia Degend (DJK Aschaffenburg) also finished seventh.
In the weight class up to 52 kg, Leo Schubert (Judokan Aschaffenburg) advanced to the semi-finals with a Harai-Goshi victory. Simon Lebold (TV Elsenfeld) also made it into the semi-finals – with a hold on Masch from Alterfurt. Both had to leave the finals to the Großhadern fighters Highly motivated, Leo Schubert went into his small final, in which he defeated Penella from Elsdorf with an inside sickle and won the bronze medal.
In the other small final, Simon Lebold threw Nuremberg’s Diochenko with a Tai Otoshi and pinned him to the ground for ten seconds. Like Leo Schubert, he won the bronze medal.
With two medals, the balance for the Lower Main was lower than in the pre-Corona period. “We will continue to train,” said base coach Patrick Majnusz. »The structure is right and if the girls fight with the girls again, we will be there again with more medals.«
