Latvia’s representative Šedis wins gold and silver in WC arm wrestling

Šedis won gold in the weight category up to 110 kilograms in right-handed fights and silver in left-handed fights, while multiple Latvian, European and world champion Jānis Amoliņš won the bronze award in the weight category up to 75 kilograms in right-handed fights.

Latvian arm wrestlers had not won a gold medal at the world championship for nine years.

The 43rd World Armwrestling Championship was held in the Turkish city of Antalya from October 14 to 23, and athletes from 54 countries took part in it.

Ten athletes represented Latvia in the championship, Kristaps Blūmanis and Raimonds Antonovičas also won gold medals.

In the U-21 group, in the weight category up to 75 kilograms, Blumanis won the gold medal with his right and left hand, but in the “Master”/veteran group, in the weight category up to 90 kilograms, both with his right hand, the gold medal went to Antonović.
