Kevin Cordón could play in the Netherlands one of the last tournaments with the Guatemalan flag

Kevin Cordón will play in Almere, the Netherlands, which could be one of the last tournaments representing Guatemala, if the suspension becomes effective of the International Olympic Committee on August 15.

Kevin arrived in the Netherlands yesterday to play the Yonex Dutch Open 2022one of the competitions to which he was invited for placing in the 36th place in the world ranking; In addition, it is number two in the American continent.

Within the field of 79 players registered in the singles competition, Cordón appears as the third best placed, behind the Dutch Mark Caljouw —27 in the world— and the Thai Kantaphon Wangcharoen —32 in the world—first and second, respectively.

Kevin’s last appearance was the previous August, after having participated in the Badminton World Cup in Tokyo, where he was eliminated in the round of 16 by Loh Kean Yew, from Singapore. In the previous round, the Guatemalan beat the Spanish Pablo Abian, with partials of 21-12 and 21-12.
