DItalian football has been rocked by another brutal act of violence. Vittorio Boiocchi, 69, the notorious Ultra leader of Inter Milan, was shot dead in the street on Saturday night. Nerazzurri fans received the news of death in the middle of the league game against Genoa Sampdoria.
The attack happened around 7.50 p.m. on Saturday in the Figino district in western Milan. According to the police, Boiocchi was hit by five shots on the outskirts of the Lombard metropolis; The Corriere de la Serra reported that the victim was hit by three bullets in the chest and neck and died during transport to the San Carlo hospital. Photo and video recordings show a large pool of blood at the crime scene.
According to reports, it was an ambush. “Repubblica” reports on two men on a motorcycle who were spotted at the time of the crime. It is not yet clear whether the fatal shots were fired from a motorcycle and who is behind the crime.
The crime happened just before the start of the home game against Genoa, which Inter won 3-0. As news of Boiocchi’s death spread around the stadium, ultra groups in the Curva Nord unfurled their banners and exited the San Siro stadium at half-time, leaving a huge gap in the stands. Boiocchi was banned from the stadium
Boiocchi had a long criminal history. As the “Corriere della Sera” reports, the leader of the Inter-Tifosi had already been convicted ten times – for association for the purpose of international drug trafficking, criminal association, illegal carrying and possession of weapons, robbery, kidnapping and theft. He had spent a total of 26 years in prison.
