Independiente could not with Tigre and added his second consecutive defeat

For the continuity of matchday 24 of the Professional Soccer League, Independent fell before Tigre 2-1 in the Jose Dellagiovanna Stadium and added his second loss in a row. Armoa scored twice for the local, while Soñora discounted for the visit.

The first dangerous action was generated by Victoria’s team, after a combination of passes that ended with Blas Armoa, who defined a cross before Milton Álvarez came off, but the goalkeeper reacted spectacularly and kept the zero.

However, a burst of effectiveness by those led by Diego Martínez transformed the course of the match: the Paraguayan appeared at 16′, after a center by Sebastián Prieto, to make it 1-0 against Rojo.

Four minutes later, after a counterattack initiated by Lucas Blondel, it was Facundo Colidio who capitalized on the attack and again assisted the scorer of the first goal. Armoa signed his double and increased his impressive streak: he has six consecutive games scoring at least one goal.

The discount for the cast of Avellaneda came quickly, at 30′, thanks to an overflow by Leandro Benegas on the right. The forward centered in the direction of Alan Soñora, who embedded the ball in the angle and narrowed the gap in the result.

At the end of the first stage, the local team ran into a new response from Milton Álvarez, after a resounding header from Colidio that the goalkeeper cleared after a great fly to his right post, at 40 ‘.

Back in the second half, the Red Devils pressed their rival in search of equality, although they were not clear in the last meters. For his part, Mateo Retegui, the tournament’s top scorer, took advantage of the gaps in the opponent’s defense and came close to scoring the third.

After several minutes characterized by rough play and interrupted by various fouls, Julio César Falcioni’s team reached the goal defended by Gonzalo Marinelli through a shot by Damián Batallini, who deflected his shot.

Towards the end, Tigre wasted another opportunity to stretch the difference: a corner kick executed by Alexis Castro led to Blondel, who shot a volley inside the small area, but the goalkeeper, one of the figures of the duel, prevented the fall of his fence.

With the conclusion of the match, Independiente moved away from the Copa Sudamericana positions, of which it was six units away. Meanwhile, the local team settled in continental competition positions, with 57, four behind the Libertadores.
