Although the drivers’ title has gone, Ferrari wants to push again in these last 4 races. It is a very important reason.

Ferrari has been running out of victories since 10th July. Three months in which the Red team saw the possibility of fighting for the World Championship vanish, which went definitively with the victory in Japanese GP to what Max Verstappengood not only to take advantage of all the gifts made by the Maranello team for technical problems and errors at the wall but also to bring out his class in the key moments of the season. Three months in which Ferrari has shown that it is unable to change pace and make a difference, as happened in the first part of the season where, as mentioned, she was plagued by numerous problems (see the power unit) that really took away from her hands the successes she would have deserved on the pitch.

In recent months it seems that the F1-75 has lost its way a bit, after the winter work and the first part of the season had seen a car always able to keep up with the pace of Red Bull with updates that each time gave the desired results on the track.

The breaking point seems to have been the French GP, where Ferrari introduced a new flat bottom to increase the low pressure area present at its inlet and increase the downforce produced by the bottom itself. An excavation had been created on the upper part of the entrance to the Venturi channels to convey the air flow towards the outside of the bellies and thus improve the aerodynamic efficiency of these, modified at Silverstone. A solution, however, that in the successful appointments turned out not to be apt, given that both Leclerc and Sainz have since complained about a more unstable and “tire-eating” car.

Only six podiums have come since the knockout of Paul Ricard and never a real chance of victory for the Reds, if not in Singapore, where however in the absence of the cannibal Verstappen it was Perez who made the big voice. From Monza, where a new modification has been made to the bottom, the air seems to have returned in favor of the Italian team, which is still missing the appointment with the victory.

Ferrari, eyes on the news

The goal of the Red team, with the World Championship already gone, is to try to optimize the team mechanisms more and more, which too many times this year have shown shortcomings, especially from the point of view of tactics. One would ask: why develop a car that has now lost its title instead of dedicating body and soul to the 2023 project? In recent weeks, Ferrari has moved very precisely in a future keybringing further upgrades for the hybrid part of the engine, who today seems to be reliable again after the numerous problems that compromised the chances of the championship in the first part of the season. Furthermore the engineers are also working hard on the bottom of the car, where it is possible to act to create greater stability and traction. In Japan, the Rossa brought a further step of updates, which seem to have worked. And this is fundamental, because it can give the technicians a further hand in refining the project for the 2023 car, which is now almost ready in all its specifications.

The focus will therefore be on the novelties brought to the track by Ferrari in these last four events, who hopes to get the answers he is looking for and thus give a boost to the project of the car to come. To really give the assault to the World Cup after the too modest attempt this season.
